The Salvation of Spider-Man

Published by gonzo at 4:39 pm under Comics, Video Games Edit This

Web of ShadowsThe Spider-Man franchise has come out with movies of declining quality, and the video game representations have not been much better. Fortunately for all of those who have kept faith in the Webslinger despite his emo phase and a Topher Grace take on Venom, a new game has come out starting Spidey on his path to redemption.

Web of Shadows is everything a Spider-Man game should be, and without ties to the movies it takes the story in an entirely different direction. The ability to swing all over New York is awesome as always, but the thing that makes it the most enjoyable for me are the missions. In the previous movie licensed games most of the missions felt like filler material, doing nothing to advance the story and quickly becoming tedious. Not so in the new game! Every mission ties into the grander scheme of things, and the decisions you make influence how the story will unfold. This all adds up to a much more intriguing game experience that captures your attention. I know I’ve already spent far more hours playing than I should. The only real complaint I have is the voice acting for Spider-Man. He sounds like a complete wimp. Although that could be a ruse to lull his enemies into a false sense of security. That wily Spider-Man.

I highly recommend this game to all Spider-Man fans, and fans of fun games in general. At last Spider-Man has once again made it fun to run around New York in Spandex. Now my Playstation is calling me, until tomorrow comic fans.
