Learn the Alphabet the Marvel Way

Published by gonzo under Comics, Heroes, Villains Edit This

I think one of the main things that draws pretty much everybody into comics is the artwork. There is such a wide range of styles, from goofy to extra realistic, that there is something to be found for everyone. That is one of the reasons why I like real artistic looks into comic characters.

Captain America by Enymy

One of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while is a series of drawings over at Abduzeedo. This guy by the name of Enymy has taken a Marvel character for each letter of the alphabet and done some really great drawings. I especially like the Captain America and Punisher drawings. There’s really not much I can say about these except that they are fantastic. I think it would be better to let the drawings speak for themselves, so hurry up and check them out.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Eyes Wonder Woman

Published by gonzo under Comics, Heroes Edit This

First off I would like to apologize for not posting anything over the weekend. I was too busy with birthday festivities and such and took the weekend off. If you would like you can still feel free to send presents. But don’t worry, I am back now and I have news for you! Jennifer Love Hewitt has stated that she wants to play Wonder Woman. I would not complain at all seeing her in that corset like outfit that would highlight her…acting talent.

Jennifer Love Hewitt has some nice “acting talents”

The only other action type movie I have seen her in is The Tuxedo with Jackie Chan. I love all Jackie Chan movies, no matter how god awful they are, but Jennifer Love Hewitt didn’t exactly impress me other than with how low cut she can wear her dresses.Would Jennifer Love Hewitt make a good Amazon Princess? I am leaning towards no, even though she would look good. I’d prefer Jessica Biel, she just looks mean enough to Wonder Woman. What are your thoughts?

Could Jennifer Love Hewitt play a believable Wonder Woman?

Mmm…Wonder Woman

Published by gonzo under Comics, Heroes Edit This

There are few things that get a nerd’s blood pumping like seeing a woman dressed up as a super heroine. That is what makes the following commercial the best commercial that has ever been made. I don’t even know what it is for (I have heard Mexican department store thrown around a bit, but I honestly don’t care) yet it is still the greatest commercial I have ever seen. And I will track down Mexican Wonder Woman and propose to her. Hear that internet? I called dibs.

Mexican Batgirl and Catwoman certainly don’t look bad, but wow, Mexican Wonder Woman is crazy good looking. She could pull out her Lasso of Truth with me any day. I have decided that we need some American commercials like this, maybe with Powergirl, Supergirl, and Poison Ivy this time. That would definitely make me buy whatever product they were selling.

Wonder Woman? Yes, please.

Robert Downey (Not as Iron Man) Saves Lives

Published by gonzo under Comics, Heroes, Movies Edit This

Well maybe saying he saved a life is a bit of an exaggeration but he did indeed help an extra who was injured. During filming of the upcoming Iron Man 2 movie an extra got smacked a bit too hard and fell to the ground in severe pain. It seems everybody else was focused on the scene rather than the extra and filming continued. Luckily Robert Downey Jr. used his super hearing to discover the extra was in pain and immediately ran on to the scene to help the guy out. Downey even stayed with the guy until an ambulance arrived. It’s nice to hear about these sorts of acts, heroes don’t always have to have a costume. Plus this is great press to spread the word of Iron Man 2 around, now everybody will have to go see it!

Robert Downey Jr. is a hero even when he’s not Iron Man!

Spider-Man Pole Dances

Published by gonzo under Comics, Heroes Edit This

Well I have come across a video that has me highly entertained. It is Spider-Man performing various provocative dance moves. Apparently Spider-Man is unable to fight crime (probably because of the extra pounds he has added on) so he has decided to use his spider agility to perform erotic dances.

Spider-Man is also an excellent breakdancer

If the Broadway musical is anything like this I might have to go see it.  Who knew Spider-Man would end up pelvic thrusting towards random strangers on the street? Well without further ado here is the video of what Spider-Man has been reduced to:

Bob, Agent of Hydra

Published by gonzo under Comics, Heroes Edit This

There are many sidekick type characters in comics, some of the more notable names being Robin and Aqualad. Yes, one of the first sidekicks I thought of was Aqualad, don’t judge me. The point is, the position of sidekick has been an oft maligned one, especially when Speedy, sidekick to the Green Arrow, got revealed as a drug addict!

Speedy wasn’t even a good sidekick before he started doing drugs

That is why I propose to make Bob, Agent of Hydra, the leader of all sidekicks. He may not have the qualities of a hero, but he does everything you need done by a sidekick. Mostly the job of sidekick requires the aforementioned sidekick to provide comic relief. Bob does this excellently. It is not the sidekick’s job to save the day; that is the hero’s responsibility. Bob takes this to heart and does his best not to get killed or do anything and stay as far away from the violence as possible. Unfortunately for him, Deadpool often drags him along on dangerous adventures and hilarity ensues. That is why I say we should all vote Bob for President of the sidekicks. He’ll keep you laughing even if he doesn’t keep you safe.

Bob, agent of Hydra, is the best sidekick ever

That is the Question

Published by gonzo under Comics, Heroes Edit This

One of the most intriguing characters in comics is Question. He is a faceless detective solving crimes and whooping ass. He also hooks up with the Huntress in the Justic League animated series.

The Question is an underrated hero

What I like about the Question isn’t the average superhero. He doesn’t go looking for bank robbers or purse snatchers to beat down, but instead uses his background as a journalist to look for clues and fight corruption in the government. This faceless hero takes down the faceless criminals in positions of authority using detective skills that rival those of even Batman.

The Question is almost as good of a detective as Batman

I also like the fact that he is very much a human. He often gets beat up, and was nearly killed on his first adventure. He is a capable fighter, but is still susceptible to a henchman with a gun. I think the Question is one of the most underrated heroes around and urge you to check out his comics.

Squirrel Girl and Sentry

Published by gonzo under Comics, Heroes Edit This

One character that I’d like to see more of is Sentry. You might remember him from World War Hulk or the New Avengers titles as the guy with powers rivaling Superman’s, yet he is far too insane to be of much help. Having that kind of power mixed with so much mental instability is just a recipe for a great storyline.

Sentry is a crazy crazy man

I like this view, where sometimes Sentry is afraid to leave his bed even though he is one of the most powerful heroes around. This fits as a weakness way better than a glowing stone, at least in my opinion. I am calling out for a well written series focusing on Sentry and his craziness just because I want something new to read.

Squirrel Girl’s minions take out Dr. Doom

While I’m throwing ideas out there I would like to see a Deadpool and Squirrel Girl team-up comic. You might remember Squirrel Girl as a member of the Great Lakes Initiative AKA Avengers Ultra-Lite, and as the one person alive who can somehow always beat up Deadpool. She even took out Dr. Doom and Thanos and saved the multiverse! That just lends itself to hilarity and awesomeness. Get on it Marvel execs.

Batman and Robin are All Stars

Published by gonzo under Comics, Heroes Edit This

I have a recommendation for everyone. Read the All Star Batman and Robin series. It is absolutely amazing. This is Frank Miller knowing he’s Frank Miller, so he just had fun with writing Batman this time around. The art by Jim Lee fits the tone of the comic perfectly, and as always is great to look at.

Batman and Robin have a great relationship

A lot of people don’t like that Frank Miller made this version of Batman very violent. That is what I like most about this Batman. He will set criminals on fire, loves breaking bones, and will start playing tonsil hockey with Black Canary while fighting off scores of criminal. Then tell her to shut up when they’re in the Batmobile. This is a Batman who kidnaps Dick Grayson, smacks him around, and makes him eat rats. This Batman is scarier than Christian Bale.

Batman totally got with Black Canary

The important thing here though is to just read it as Frank Miller having fun with the character. Batman has been depicted in a lot of different ways; he even started his crime fighting career carrying a gun. This is just the super violent, merciless, womanizing version of Batman. Plus this series introduced us to the famous line: “I’m the goddamn Batman”. What else could you ask for?

He is the Goddamn Batman

The Deadpool Movie is On!

Published by gonzo under Comics, Heroes, Movies Edit This

The Deadpool movie is official! The high earning opening weekend of X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the fan response to Deadpool have convinced the executives in Hollywood to get this movie started immediately.

Deadpool should use this move in his movie

Ryan Reynolds will of course be playing the merc with a mouth, and after seeing him in X-Men Origins: Wolverine I am further convinced that Reynolds was born to play this part. The one thing I’m not sure about is what storyline could be used for the movie. That and whether Deadpool will break the 4th wall. I would like a previously used storyline to be used, because after seeing the writing for the Wolverine movie I am terrified what a scratch written story would look like. I think a showdown between Deadpool and T-Ray could be fun to watch, basically focusing on Deadpool’s mercenary life. I also want to see Weasel get abused by Deadpool.

I wonder if Deadpool will use any form of the yellow boxes in the movie
